In 2024, a group of sports friends travelled to Portugal — not for a typical holiday, but to help with an olive harvest. A personal friend of mine managing an amazing biodynamic farm in the north-east of Portugal needed extra hands. So I asked in my CrossFit box “Why don’t we just go help?”
The response was immediate. People were in.
What followed surprised everyone.
A few days of real harvest work. Early mornings. Dirty hands. Shared meals. Stronger bonds. My friend, the farmer got crucial support during peak season — and the group left feeling more connected than ever.
What made it special wasn’t just helping out — it was doing real work together. No performance. No volunteering theatre. Just capable people contributing to something that actually matters.
And then there was the moment that sealed it: After days in the field, we brought the freshly harvested olives to a local press. Hours later, bread was dipped into oil made from fruit we had picked ourselves. Still warm. Still green. Truly extra virgin.
That moment — sweat turning into something tangible — is what Sweat & Soil is about.
Today, Sweat & Soil creates seasonal harvest journeys for sports communities across Europe. Different crops. Different countries. Same principles: real work, shared effort, local rhythm, and lasting connection.
If that resonates, you’re already part of the story.
