Maslinica Adriatica

Hvar Island, Split-Dalmatia, Croatia

Olive harvest on a small Dalmatian island farm

About this host

Maslinica Adriatica is the only olive farm on the programme that requires a ferry to reach. The island is small, the ferry is infrequent, and the 20 minutes of crossing somehow reframe everything that follows. The farm itself covers six hectares of terraced groves, with Oblica and Lastovka olives grown as they have been here for centuries. The harvest runs October and November. Groups stay on-site, work the groves in the morning, swim in the afternoon, and eat together each evening on the terrace above the sea. The isolation is part of the point.

The story behind this place

Petra grew up on the mainland and bought the farm ten years ago when it was listed as abandoned. She has spent every autumn here since. She still works as an architect in Split during the rest of the year, returning each October as a kind of homecoming.

Good to know

Flat to gently sloped terrain. Island logistics mean groups must commit to the full week (ferry schedule). This is a sample listing to give you an idea of the kinds of hosts on the platform.
